Fridhem (Peaceful Home) is a 5,356 square foot residence designed as a retreat from the busyness of everyday life, blending Scandinavian and Japandi influences with a calm, modern aesthetic rooted in simplicity, warmth, and intentional living.
The architecture embraces clean lines, expansive glass, and soft organic textures to create a home that feels open, airy, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Vaulted ceilings and long sightlines allow natural light to move freely throughout the home, reinforcing a sense of peace and spaciousness. A restrained palette of warm woods, plaster walls, natural stone, and layered textures creates depth while maintaining an overall feeling of quiet simplicity.
Inside, the design centers around flow, volume, and materiality. Plaster elements throughout the home add softness and subtle movement, balancing the clean architectural forms with warmth and character. Every material was selected for its timeless, tactile quality and understated warmth, allowing the spaces to feel elevated without excess.
Fire serves as a subtle design anchor throughout the home. Exterior fire features and a dramatic four-sided fireplace create warmth, ambiance, and natural gathering spaces that support the home’s overall feeling of comfort and serenity. Inspired by the Scandinavian concept of hygge, the interiors were designed to encourage connection and a slower pace of living.
The floor plan was thoughtfully designed for both entertaining and everyday functionality. Open gathering spaces transition naturally into private retreat areas, while strong indoor-outdoor relationships blur the boundary between the home and landscape. A main-level primary suite, elevator access, sauna, and lower-level spa spaces support wellness-focused living.
