About Ohana

“Ohana”, by Red Hills Construction, is an inviting transitional home that aims to connect the indoors with the outdoors. The homeowners hail from the beautiful state of Hawaii, where the term, ohana, means family. The Ohana’s single level floor plan was designed to be a multigenerational home that promotes an open and welcoming atmosphere.

Upon entering the grand foyer, visitors will be drawn to the Exemplar R Series fireplace that highlights inclusion from the outside in. The see-through fireplace perfectly achieves the homeowners’ desire to connect their outdoor patio to their interior living space. In collaboration with Greylyn Wayne Interior Design, the Ohana house features gorgeous rough sawn fir beams gracing the kitchen, dining room and great room. Splashes of green and blue colorways punctuate otherwise neutral backdrops, hinting at the homeowners’ tropical island roots. Skylights are featured in both wings, and folding glass panel doors further blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living.

Throughout the home, considerable attention was given to universal access, aging in place features, including an ADA compliant en suite, zero threshold showers, 60” wide corridors, one lever faucets and 36” wide doors.

Extended eaves, premium wall insulation, electric patio heaters, a hard-wired generator and radiant floor heating ensure year round comfort and energy efficiency. Showcasing considerable options for storage, the Ohana features five garage bays, a built-in desk, custom walnut and alder cabinetry and shelves, walk-in closets and two built-in entertainment centers. An appreciation towards sustainability and fostering a natural wildlife habitat inspires the abundant plantings of native trees and shrubs.

“Mahalo nui loa” (thank you very much) for sharing in the delights of the Ohana home.
