With many new innovations in “smart” equipment, cooking at home can be easy, fun, and more convenient than ever. Rather than ordering in, high tech features can make your kitchen a pleasant place to cook more often at home.
If you’re thinking about replacing your old stove and oven, check out how each home’s natural gas ranges, ovens and cooktops are WiFi enabled at the 2019 NW Natural Street of Dreams. Check out Wolf, Thermador, Jenn Air and Dacor – all allow you to control your appliance remotely.
WiFi Compatible Devices. Compatible ranges differ from brand to brand, so check before you buy. Each has its own portal and app including Amazon Alexa to Google Assistant (not all are Google Play for Android yet, but will be available soon), iPhone6 or Apple Watch running iOS 9 or higher.
To Get Started. To connect you will need a “smart” range, a wireless router and internet connection with your network name and password and your smart phone. With most “smart” ranges and ovens you’ll need to download the app on your phone through the iTunes App Store or Google play. Each app will walk you through the connection process. The remote-enable feature on your oven or range has to be turned on. Some WiFi equipped ranges can even alert the factory if there is a problem.
Other features can transform the way you cook. New controls provide sensors that detect if the flame has gone out, and re-ignite for control and safety.
Most of the new models today use an electronic spark ignition, rather than a continuously burning pilot, saving on energy costs.
From professional chefs to beginner home cooks, and everyone in-between, many prefer the infinite control that natural gas provides. Today’s features allow any of us to prepare healthy dishes at home or even while away with “smart” connected appliances, so we can feel good about enjoying a home-cooked meal.
